A 2 year project to reconstruct about 4 miles of M-59 is set to begin in March.
The project will go from M-59, from the M-53 interchange, east to Romeo Plank Road.
Lane closures are expected, but businesses along the construction route will still be accessible.
During the first year work will include; replacing concrete with asphalt, improving drainage, upgrading ramps and sidewalks, and adding sidewalks missing along M-59.
New traffic signals and signs, and enhanced landscaping will also be done.
In the second year, the approach lanes to the Michigan turnarounds will be lengthened.
This whole reconstruction will cost about $60 million.
We will continue to keep you updated when the project starts and as it progresses.
